Information

Catz at Ashwood Quality Boarding Cattery is a warm, serene, welcoming place where your cat will feel loved, safe, and relaxed. We promise to take the best care of your feline friend and to make their stay as stress-free as possible.

Starting in 1950, right up until today, Catz at Ashwood Quality Boarding Cattery has offered cats of all ages, breeds, and needs the best possible accommodations.

There’s no staff, just us, so you know you are dealing with the owners (ok, and one mother-in-law, on those rare occasions we get a break). We have been running the cattery since 2002, we like to think we are knowledgeable and friendly having done this for so long. We are committed to making sure all of our feline guests are content, healthy, and safe throughout their stay, whether it’s just a weekend trip, a business trip, or a well deserved overseas vacation.

Inspection welcome

We encourage inspections and will be happy to show you around our cat boarding facility. Visit us to discover for yourself why cat lovers like you choose our  Cattery.

No prior notice or appointment is necessary, all we ask is that you please visit us during our open hours, Mon – Friday 12md-2pm and 7pm – 8pm, Weekends and Public Holidays 5:30pm – 6:30pm.

Long Stay Cats

We welcome new cats to stop by for a trial visit. This will assist in acclimating your cat to the new surroundings. Before your cat comes for a longer stay, a brief initial stay with us can help to calm any anxiety. That way they’ll remember our cattery as a fun place to hang out until their favourite humans come to pick them up once more.

As much as you enjoy your vacation, so will your best friend’s vacation with us!

Christmas Stays

The minimum length of stay during the Christmas season is seven days, from December 20th to January 6th. For reservations made during the holiday season, we also require a deposit; the balance is due when you pick up your feline friends. This deposit is not refundable.

Vaccination Requirements

All cats staying in the main part of our boarding cattery, whether as short-term or long-term guests, are required to be vaccinated for the following:

Calicivirus

Rhinotracheitis (snuffles)

Feline Enteritis

Potional Chlamydia (feline aids) optional – we strongly recommend you speak to your vet regarding this.

All cats must have had vaccinations within the last 12 months, but not less than 7 days before entering the cattery.

All vaccinations are to be valid for the length of stay.

Food

The cats are fed twice a day, first thing in the morning and again in the early evening. The morning meal is left with them for approximately an hour before being cleared away and the evening meal is left with them overnight, so they can graze.  We feed Royal Canin Fit 32 which is a premium quality dry food with no fillers or artificial ingredients and is the same brand of food we feed our own cats.

Speciality Diets

If you want to bring your cat’s favourite food or if they are on a special diet, please do so.  We can even cater for raw diets as we have a refrigerator in the cattery kitchen.

You must supply the speciality food/diet.

There is no extra charge for feeding special diets.

Shy Cats

In the case of shy cats, we will do our very best to encourage them to come out of their room and find a nice place to spend their day in the cattery. We have found that by waiting until the evening and giving them time out when everyone else is away, we can often coax shy cats to come out and explore and this usually enables them to happily come out during the day. We will never drag or in anyway force a cat to come out of their room if they don’t want to, as this will be very stressful for them.

Visiting

If while your cat(s) is staying with us, you would like to visit, or if you have family and/or friends who would like to visit, no appointment is necessary, we only ask that you come during our open hours.

You can find directions by clicking here.

Unvaccinated Cats

We do take a small number of unvaccinated cats. They are housed in our Isolation room, which is completely separate to the main cattery (this is for their health and safety). There is an additional charge to take advantage of this service.

We do not take unvaccinated cats over the Christmas Period – 20th Dec until 10th Jan

Cleaning

Our cattery is cleaned daily to a very high standard to guarantee the safety and well-being of all our guests.

All floors, surfaces, water, food and litter bowls are serialised using a professional Cleaner and Sanitiser which kills animal viruses and bacteria to a very high efficacy. This kills, Canine parvovirus, canine distemper, feline leukemia, corona virus, equine influenza A,  salmonella, e-coli, streptococcus, HIV-1 (aids virus), hepatitis B virus(HBV),  Herpes 1 and 2, legionella pneumophila, enterobacter aerogenes, enterococcus faecium, staphylococcus, listeria monocytogenes, infectious peritonititis, avian influenza,  and most viruses, bacteria and fungi.

Any bedding where accidents have occurred are washed and dried, and fresh cosy bedding is provided.
